The Dream

A few nights ago, a lady in the community who we work with had a dream about two children and their mother who were starving. Later that day as she was walking home, she met the lady and two kids from her dream. She knew it was a sign from God that we needed to help them. On Tuesday, a few of us went to meet this lady to see her situation and pray over her. When we got there, we were greeted by this lady who was clearly broken and sad. She had her 6 year old daughter and 7 month old son with her. None of them really smiled unless prompted, and even then you could tell it was fake and forced. The baby cried most of the time, probably because he was hungry. She would try to nurse him but wouldn't for long, most likely because she couldn't produce anything for him since she wasn't getting proper nutrition for herself. She showed us where they lived - a room no bigger than 7 feet by 7 feet with a few blankets in one corner and a pot and some dishes in the other. That was it. No bed. No food. One small window and that was all.

Throughout the conversation, we found out she has tuberculosis and can't take her medication unless she has food, which most of the time she doesn't. We also found out that her daughter wasn't sleeping because she would see demons through the night. We were able to pray over her, her health, her home and her daughter. After we left, we decided to get a few basic food items for them. When we came back, that was the first time she really smiled. Her grandmother was there (both parents died years before), and she couldn't stop saying thank you to us. She was so grateful that we could provide something to her granddaughter that she couldn’t. This go-go (grandmother) had gray, cloudy eyes. We asked if we could pray for her and her eyesight. The Lord healed her and she was able to see much better than before! Praise Jesus!

We went back a few days later to see how they were doing. The young mother was completely changed. She was smiling, had energy, was able to feed her baby and had life in her eyes. She was actively participating in our conversation as well. The go-go was also there and told us she was able to see the eye of a needle! We shared the Gospel with the go-go and prayed over her and her two granddaughters - the young mother we originally visited and her sister. The mother also told us that her daughter had not had a bad night since we prayed for her a few days ago. You could feel the presence of the Lord that day. It was truly an incredible experience.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, please be sensitive to what the Lord is telling you. Our friend could have written off the dream she had and we could have never met this young mother and given her food. There is no such thing as a coincidence - everything is an act of God. He is giving you those dreams for a reason. You are seeing that friend you haven’t talked to in years all over town for a reason. That person you passed in the grocery store with the sadness in his or her eyes has been on your heart for a reason. What is the Lord saying to you? How can you encourage someone today? Please, please don’t put off what Jesus is calling you to - it could be a matter of life and death.

In Christ,
